Mostly Printed CNC (MPCNC)

After looking at many different options for my own CNC Router solution I decided that the MPCNC would be a good option for many reasons. You can find the details for the MPCNC at the V1Engineering website


My MPCNC build


I built the table and printed all the parts. I bought the Rambo 1.4 board and all the other parts in a kit from V1Engineering. I have made a few things with the router, it has great repeatability and with the right cutters it is pretty aggressive in the material it can move. I am still experimenting with Fusion 360 to optimize the feeds and speeds, particularly the move between cuts.

The router I use is the Dewalt 661 which has a 1/4″ and 1/8″ collet chuck. It doesn’t require any tools to change the bits which is a neat feature but not the easiest to use when the router is mounted in the MPCNC.

I have a Raspberry Pi 3b+ running standard Octoprint, this is used to send the Gcode to the Rambo board. This Rambo board includes dual end stops, the are used to auto square the X and Y axis. I have been very happy with the squareness and accuracy of the machine so far.
